Miss Belly Dance

Miss Belly Dance Biography
Teressa is a dynamic and engaging Bellydance artist and instructor in Toronto. She has dedicated herself to learning and sharing this art form since 2004, when she first discovered the vibrant cultures and dances of the Middle East.

Teressa began her bellydance training at Yasmina Ramzy’s Arabesque Academy in Toronto, and has continued to develop her training with Mayada, dancing in two troupes, Banat el Sharq, an Egyptian folkloric troupe, and Cairo ala Nar, a traditional Egyptian style bellydance ensemble.

As a committed professional dance artist, Teressa has continued to develop her talent under the training of world-renowned teachers, including Egyptian stars Aida Nour, Tito, and Randa Kamel. In addition, she has also been highly influenced from her training with North-American dance artists Suhaila Salimpour and Hadia, as well as workshops from such notable dance artists such as Sahra Saeeda and Aziza.

Currently, Teressa is expanding her dance repertoire with extensive training in jazz, contemporary, and hip-hop dance styles and is excited to have recently joined Tropicaliente, a Latin dance company in Toronto.

Teressa’s ability to create fusion and contrast in her dance make her a highly sought after performer. She is able to create the elegance and graceful styling of an Egyptian belly dancer; the earthy, uplifting rawness of the Saidi folk dancer; and the modern interpretations of a fusion artist. Her overall style is a synthesis of the Middle East that encompasses pure passion and love for this powerful dance form and culture.
